Welcome from the 2015 - 2016 Chair!

Over the past few years, Florida State University has gone through a transformative period, being designated as one of two preeminent institutions in the state of Florida and launching a large national campaign. We have witnessed that private support is a prominent factor in the academic success of the University and its students. The Student Foundation is excited for yet another remarkable year of philanthropy to support University-wide endeavors at the student level. We thank the students, faculty, and alumni of Florida State University who have provided our great institution with the foundations for growth, as we continue to create unparalleled opportunities for the Florida State community. 

Since the founding of the Student Foundation in 2010, the students of Florida State University have raised over $400,000 to support academic and development programs. Beneficiaries of these student-led philanthropic efforts include the Garnet & Gold Scholar Society, Undergraduate Research, Student Veterans Initiatives, Marching Chiefs Travel Fund, 50th Anniversary of Integration, Faculty Travel and Research Grants, Student Food Pantry, Honors, Scholars, & Fellows House, and the Protect Our Professors Fund. 

Unique in its mission, the Florida State University Student Foundation is proud to lead the state in promoting student philanthropy, being the first organization of its kind in the state of Florida and serving as a model for other universities' organizational equivalents. The 2015-2016 Board of Trustees is eager to continue advocating for philanthropy in the Seminole community and providing our peers with the best collegiate experience. We, the students, must strive to support the University’s Raise the Torch Campaign to advance the profile of our alma mater in the National Rankings and place us amongst the Top 25 Public Institutions in the country. Florida State University equips its students with a world-class education, leadership and career enhancement opportunities, and the skills to succeed in the professional workplace. It is our responsibility to reciprocate the support our University has given us and ensure better experiences for the next generation of Florida State Seminoles.  

It is my honor to serve as the Chairman of the Student Foundation for the 2015-2016 academic year. We yearn to foster, promote, and help establish an even greater philanthropic culture within the student body and on the campus of Florida State University.
